Revolutionizing Monetization without Ads: How Wizard Games 8x’ed their revenue with BrightSDK on Amazon Store

Monetization without Ads

Impressive Results: Increased Engagement, Retention, and Revenue Growth

Since the inception of our partnership, Wizard Games has achieved an eightfold increase in their Amazon revenue. Additionally, we offered User Acquisition (UA) assistance, which included both UA funds (not part of SDK revenue) and professional campaign management by our team via Chartboost, significantly contributing to user growth and increased revenue.

A key factor in achieving such high revenue was our ability to help publishers monetize even their non-active user base. We provide compensation for every user who opts in, regardless of their activity status, unless they opt out or uninstall the application.

Key Achievements:

  • Revenue: 8x’ed in 2023 since the beginning of the partnership
  • Avg. Opt-in Rate: 72%
  • Monetization of non-active user-base
  • UA Sponsorship

Strategizing Effective Solutions for Achieving Objectives:

In recent years, BrightSDK has formed strategic alliances with premier gaming studios, including Wizard Games on the Amazon App Store. Despite its relatively modest size compared to Google Play, the Amazon App Store is crucial in top-tier countries, often overlooked by developers. Our campaign’s main objective was to enhance user acquisition, engagement, and retention, transforming the Amazon App Store into the principal monetization source for our partner. We aimed to provide immediate in-game value to users, steering clear of disruptive ads or mandatory purchases, and even extending monetization to non-active users.

The Challenge and Our Approach:

BrightSDK and Wizard Games faced significant hurdles on the Amazon App Store, a platform with less visibility and a smaller user base than the iTunes Store or Google Play, making it challenging to attract a large audience. The mobile gaming industry has been dominated by hybrid-monetization strategies since the 2022 global recession, compelling publishers to abandon ad-free models. This shift has introduced new problems as revenues failed to return to pre-2022 levels. Our solution tackled these issues by competing with conventional strategies like in-app ads and purchases, offering non-conventional monetization to fill revenue gaps. Additionally, user engagement and retention became more challenging as low-quality ads pervaded the industry. Our campaign addressed these by enhancing user experience without reliance on traditional ads, focusing on monetizing even those users who had ceased active play but maintained the app on their devices.

As Matthew Paxman, Founder & CEO of Wizard Games, stated: “BrightSDK has been a fantastic partner for Wizard Games. The Bright SDK has allowed us to provide our players with a superior, ad-free experience letting us generate meaningful revenue from those users. It’s a win-win!”
